The restaurant is located in Mitsuwa's food plaza, so don't expect them to have great service and fashion plates. But anyway, you come here for good food with low cost, and they have what you want.
The fried foods are great, they cooked them precisely so all the ingredients can have crispy skin with great tenderness. One thing I really want to compliment is their rice. My girlfriend missed the "Q" (means "chewy and tender" in Taiwan, similar to al dente) rice a lot, and she was quite happy with the Tendon here. The natural sweetness in their rice is already beautiful, not to mention it comes with flavorful sauce.
The only thing I don't really get is the fried pepper and broccoli. The pepper is not the one you will have in Japanese food, and the broccoli shouldn't be in Tendon. But I guess this is how they adopt to different markets in the world.
So overall, it's delicious with a cheap price. Really worth a try. -

So I have been coming here for a few years now and their food is amazing, hence why I keep coming back. However, their service could be a bit better. The last 4 times I have been here, the service has been consistently bad. I usually order the chicken tempura plate #8 but it takes a while to prepare. There is only one person at the counter taking orders AND assembling the food. Because of this, expect a long wait. Today, the food court was not very busy and there was no line but the wait was still quite long.
If you're coming to the food court with a group or family, I suggest ordering as EARLY as possible or even coming ahead of time to order. My food is always the last to come out even though I'm the first to finish ordering my food. So I don't get to enjoy my meal the same time as everyone else. Plus, maybe I just have bad luck or something but my number seems to always be called out after someone who ordered after me.
Other than that, don't eat here if you're really really hungry and can't wait. Eating a meal with a soiled spirit sucks. -

There are plenty of eateries at Mitsuwa Marketplace but it was Hannosuke that kept catching my eye every time I was at the food court. The pictures of their tempura looked so good and there was always a line.
One day for lunch; my mom and I joined the rest of the crowd and lined up. I figured with that many people always here and waiting; this place had to be good. We chose to get the #1 tendon plate as well as the #8 chicken plate.
Wait to get to the cashier was about 30 minutes. After the cashier said our order; the cook even asked if I wanted the chicken regular or spicy. I chose regular. They then gave me a number for my order.
I noticed the food was coming out in a pretty assembled order except when they got to my number. For some reason; they skipped my number and proceeded on to calling other numbers higher (later orders). It appeared there was a mix up somehow where one my two orders wasn't ready. I also noticed some confusion with the couple who ordered after me and the cashier/cook started arguing on who was right regarding orders.
I eventually got my order and the cashier kindly replaced my miso soup (saying it was probably cold already). I went off to eat lunch and got through one broccoli tempura when I noticed something odd with my chicken tempura plate. There was no chicken at all! This was a big bummer for me as I ordered the chicken plate for a reason. (I don't eat seafood and this was one of the few things on the menu that had a main dish that was not seafood based).
I made way back to the cashier and told her about how their was no chicken. She was frantically looking for the order form and it was then the cook stepped in and said he would make some chicken now. I noticed the cashier was pretty upset by now (perhaps after the first altercation between her and the cook) and she disappeared shortly after. I felt really bad at this point because I think she may have started crying :(. I didn't want her upset but I had to tell them there was no chicken in the chicken tempura dish.
In the end; the cook gave me two pieces of chicken, another miso soup and a free green tea. Foodwise; everything was ok though by the time I got the chicken; the rest of my meal was cold.
The experience here was super disappointing and I felt bad too with the whole situation between the cook and cashier (they really should've never been arguing in front of the customers in the first place). I had been looking forward to trying this place out but at the end and the whole customer service and lack of chicken; made for a not so good lunch day. -

This isn't my first visit to Hannosuke, but since I missed out on the first review, this one is based strictly on my recent visit.
Hannosuke restaurants are within the Mistuwa Market Food Courts, similar to other Santouka restaurants. The menu brightly lit, and the prices and descriptions were easy to follow. If you don't know what a Don is, don't worry, you can assume that it's a rice bowl based on the photos. They did an excellent job in photography and lured me into trying this vendor among other great Japanese dishes in the Court.
[FYI, Torrance Mistuwa Market will be relocating to Del Amo Mall, and I predict the same will happen to all the restaurants in the Food Court.]
The pictures fooled me, and I was not pleased with the presentation. I order Number 11, Tempura Sukiyaki Plate. The finished product looked far from the actual photo shown on the menu. I felt like I was duped and usually happened when I'm at fast-food chains.
Aside from the presentation, the taste of the Tempura and Sukiyaki Plate was acceptable. I was looking for a dish with a mix of fried and healthy food. This dish served both. Although my rating isn't as high as I would love to give, I wouldn't discourage anyone from trying this place. They are an incredible establishment for tempura lovers. -

While everyone else is in line for ramen (which is great, obviously), the sleeper other best thing in the marketplace is the Shrimp Tendon Tempura they make here. My goodness! Get it with the egg added, find a comfortable place to sit, and buckle up. Unbelievably light, fluffy, among the best tempura of any style you're likely to have ever had.
Outstanding.
